As we celebrate the 250th anniversary of our nation’s independence this 4th of July, we are so grateful for the enduring blessings of liberty that our Founders secured for us and the generations that have followed. Two hundred and fifty years ago, brave patriots declared that we are endowed by our Creator with unalienable rights: Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness. Their bold vision still guides us today as we work to protect freedom and the American Dream right here in Eastern Washington.

 

This tremendous milestone reminds us that our Republic thrives when we remain united in defending the principles that make America exceptional. In Congress, I remain committed to fighting for the hardworking families and communities of the 5th District — through strong national security, economic opportunity, and preserving the cherished way of life in our rural communities.

 

A highlight of serving in Washington DC is walking through the US Capitol Rotunda and seeing the spectacular paintings that tell the story of our nation’s history through some of our most decisive moments - an experience that I’ve been so pleased to be able to share with many of you visiting from back home.

 

Eleanor and I, along with our children, wish you and your families a safe and meaningful Independence Day. Whether you’re gathered with loved ones for a parade, fireworks, or a backyard barbecue, may this celebration renew our shared appreciation for the greatest country on earth.
