Standing Tall for Washington at the Great American State Fair
Because Governor Bob Ferguson chose not to have Washington officially participate in the Great American State Fair (one of the main events of our nation’s 250th birthday celebration on the National Mall), I decided to step up and personally represent our state at the booth. What I found was a bare and stripped-down display, minimal compared to the lively and engaging pavilions from states like Idaho and Texas.
Still, I was proud to represent the Evergreen State. I stamped the “passports” for fairgoers, and showed visitors that Washingtonians know how to celebrate America. It’s disappointing when partisan politics get in the way of honoring our country. We should ALWAYS put pride in America above politics.
